The International Solar Cities Initiative (ISCI) originally was an idea of outstanding scientists in the field of solar energy.
Those scientist were well aware if not frustrated by their observation that very much of their achievements and insights could be applied in society already. If only "society" would know.
Application of solar energy is important in a society which is very dependant if not addicted to energy use. And solar energy can supply a larger share of that energy need than most decision makers know. In many cases it even can be done without adding to the cost of energy or even diminish energy need and net energy costs.
So ISCI was founded in 2003.
The aim is to bring science and policy makers together, sharing practical knowledge for the transition to sustainable societies, where the main energy source is renewable energy.
In the short time of ISCI existence achieving the goal of providing fast tracks to a sustainable future for mankind, with maximum use of energy from renewable sources has proven to become more and more important.
